Understanding the controls governing oil and gas reservoir production performance is fundamental to generating reliable forecasts of future performance and identifying opportunities to improve recovery. Reservoir Characterization and Modelling is RPS Energy's service line that is dedicated to this process.
RPS Energy has the technical skills and experience to analyze the performance of virtually any oil and gas reservoir using a toolkit that ranges from analytical techniques through to sophisticated reservoir modelling. RPS Energy has a proven track record of providing practical advice on reservoir performance and development opportunities on a wide range of oil and gas problems, including:
- Depletion performance of complex lithologies and fractured reservoirs;
- Waterflooding of light, medium and heavy oil pools;
- Hydrocarbon and CO2 miscible flooding;
- Development of thin oil rims;
- Thermal recovery of heavy oil and bitumen using cyclic steam/steamflood or steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD);
- All aspects of gas reservoir development, from low pressure sweet gas to gas/condensate reservoirs and HPHT sour reservoirs.
- Gas storage developments.
RPS Energy's approach is to apply integrated solutions, based on the collective ingenuity, technical knowledge and operational experience of our reservoir and production engineering team.
Individual reservoir studies may include any or all of the following:
- Analytical reviews of field performance using classical techniques;
- Pressure transient analysis using PANTM;
- Compartmentalized material balance analysis using MBALTM;
- Sector reservoir modelling using MerlinTM or EclipseTM in relatively simple geological settings or to simulate coreflood experiments;
- Static reservoir modelling using IRAP/RMSTM, GoCADTM or EarthvisionTM to visualize and capture aspects of heterogeneous reservoirs that are important to fluid flow;
- Field-scale reservoir simulation using a variety of approaches, including Streamline Simulation using ResAssist/3DSLTM and Black Oil, Compositional or Thermal finite difference simulation using EclipseTM.
The RPS Energy Canada Petroleum Engineering consultancy works with other RPS associates in Canada, the USA or internationally from the UK, Australia, Malaysia or Singapore to provide integrated geological and reservoir engineering solutions.
As with all of our service lines, we seek the most cost-effective methods to solve your reservoir development problems and maximize your returns.
